Why Texas Tech could blow up the 2025 WCWS bracket
The Oklahoman’s Jenni Carlson breaks down why Texas Tech and NiJaree Canady will be the team to break the Women’s College World Series bracket this year.
The field for the 2025 Women’s College World Series is down to the final four.
Following a pair of elimination games on June 1, we have reached the national semifinals of the NCAA softball tournament. The June 2 games will determine who will advance to the best-of-three-game championship series starting Wednesday from Devon Park in Oklahoma City.
No. 6 Texas and No. 12 Texas Tech enter the day needing just one win each in two potential games to advance to the championship series. For the Longhorns, it would be the second consecutive appearance in the WCWS finals, and the third since 2022. The Red Raiders, led by ace NiJaree Canady, are seeking their first-ever appearance.
Meanwhile, No. 2 Oklahoma and No. 7 Tennessee each staved off elimination on June 1, and now must need two wins apiece to advance to the championship series. However, one more loss and both the Sooners and Lady Vols are done for the tournament.
Here’s a look at the schedule for Day 5 of the WCWS on June 2, including matchups, start times, TV channels and more:
