A long-standing grocery store that’s served part of west Raleigh for decades will close.
The Harris Teeter at Plaza West shopping center at the intersection of Western Boulevard and Jones Franklin Road is scheduled to shutter in July.

The location is one of five stores that the company has decided to shut down and the only one in North Carolina. The four others are in Virginia and Maryland.
The store carries between 100 and 120 employees. Employees were informed about the closings last week and will have an opportunity to pick up work at other Harris Teeter stores.
“Harris Teeter made a strategic decision to close these locations only after careful consideration,” a company spokesperson said. “Harris Teeter will offer its associates the opportunity to transfer to other locations, and in the coming weeks will work closely to assist associates through the closing process.”
The closest grocery store to this Harris Teeter is the Food Lion on Western Boulevard.
