Every Game Coming To Xbox Game Pass (& Every Game Leaving) In April 2025

Another month approaches, which means another refresh for Game Pass. Microsoft’s own subscription service for the distribution of games on PC and Xbox regularly shuffles its offerings, with several new games coming to the service each month. But to make room, a handful of games typically leave the service each month. Their departure isn’t always permanent, but is still worth preparing for. Game Pass subscribers can get special discounts on departing games, so if you’re still working through a title that’s leaving soon, you can typically buy it at a deep discount.

April 2025 is a huge month for Game Pass, with several massive day-one releases, many of which are highly anticipated games. However, quite a few games will also be leaving the platform, including multiple installments in a popular RPG series. So you know what to look out for and what to grab on sale, here’s everything coming to and leaving Game Pass in April 2025.

Every single one of the games listed above is a day-one Game Pass release. There are more than a few highlights here, but first comes South of Midnight, arriving on Game Pass April 8. South of Midnight is a Soulslike set in a Southern Gothic vision of a rural bayou town. When Hazel’s home is destroyed by a storm, she’s pulled into a fantasy world inhabited by creatures of myth and legend, where she must battle her way through armies of Haints and repair the Grand Tapestry. With arresting, stop-motion-style visuals, South of Midnight looks like a moving modern fantasy adventure.

Xbox Game Pass’ April 2025 Line-Up Makes Me Excited To Be A Subscriber

April has a great line-up of games for Xbox Game Pass, including exclusive Day One releases like South of Midnight and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

April 9 brings Descenders Next, an extreme sports simulator that allows players to engage in realistic skiing, snowboarding, skateboarding, and more. Next, on April 17, we get the psychedelic rhythm-puzzle game Tempopo. Tempopo puts you in control of a variety of different plant-like creatures, which you’ll use to revive dying flowers in a colorful garden through the power of music. It’s developed by Witch Beam, the creators of Unpacking.

Later in the month, on April 24, comes the turn-based RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Inspired by classic RPGs like Final Fantasy and Persona, Clair Obscur features a dark, compelling story set in a fantasy take on Belle Époque France. Players will battle through enemies with timing-based inputs as they attempt to uncover the mystery of the Paintress and stop the unexplained deaths brought on by her omens. Clair Obscur promises immersive exploration in a doomed world, alongside tactical turn-based combat.

All Games Leaving Game Pass In April 2025

Yakuza, Monster Hunter, & More Say Goodbye

Unfortunately, a new month also means more games leaving Game Pass, and April 2025 is a doozy. The following games are all scheduled to leave Game Pass on April 1:

  • Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged
  • The Lamplighters League
  • Lil Gator Game
  • Monster Hunter Rise
  • Open Roads
  • Yakuza 0
  • Yakuza Kiwami
  • Yakuza Kiwami 2
  • Yakuza: Like A Dragon

Apparently, the Yakuza/Like A Dragon series takes the biggest hit here, with four games – the prequel, remakes of the first two, and the 2020 soft reboot – all departing the service on the same day. That leaves Game Pass devoid of Yakuza, following the recent removal of other games in the series like Ishin and Like A Dragon Gaiden. Most of the series is currently available on discount via Game Pass, though, in case you still want to play through them all.

Monster Hunter Rise is another big loss for Game Pass. A co-op action RPG that features thrilling combat against giant monsters, Rise was lauded for its fresh, simplified take on the long-running Monster Hunter franchise. Here’s hoping for Wilds on Game Pass soon, though.

Xbox Game Pass’s Newest Co-Op Game Has More Than Its Gimmick Lets On

Looking past the highly marketed gimmick of 33 Immortals’ massive lobbies, Xbox Game Passes latest roguelike still presents a innovative experience.

The Lamplighters League is a fun, tactical detective RPG with a pleasant 1930s aesthetic. It’s got some great combat with excellent character synergy. Lil Gator Game is a cute adventure platformer that’s excellent for casual play. And Open Roads is a star-studded interactive mystery-adventure game with some pretty gripping and moving family drama. The latter two games are short enough that you should be able to finish them before they leave Game Pass, but The Lamplighters League is long enough to consider buying if you’re interested.

For now, that’s all we know about Microsoft’s April plans. There may be more new additions and removals announced throughout the month, so keep an eye on your Game Pass homepage this month for any updates.
