Schools announce schedule changes ahead of severe weather


BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – A couple of school districts in the capital region will have a change in schedule due to the forecast of severe weather and heavy rainfall.

Schedule changes

  • The Iberville Parish School System announced all public schools and offices will be closed on Wednesday, May 7. Officials will keep the public informed through the school’s website and social media accounts.
  • St. Mary Parish Parish Public Schools will be closed on Wednesday, May 7. However, officials said that students in grades 9 through 12 will engage in remote learning on Wednesday. All evening events for Tuesday, May 6, are expected to continue as planned.
  • Ascension Public Schools announced late arrivals will be excused on Wednesday morning, May 7, due to the weather.

WAFB will release updates on other school changes as they become available.
