Boonsboro’s Bekah Meiklejohn and North Hagerstown’s Ian Kelley voted Athletes of the Week


Boonsboro’s Bekah Meiklejohn and North Hagerstown’s Ian Kelley were voted The Herald-Mail’s Washington County high school athletes of the week for March 31-April 5.

The voting was conducted online Monday afternoon through noon Thursday.

Meiklejohn, a senior lacrosse player, was the girls winner with 39.85% of the vote (316 votes). She totaled 12 goals and three assists in wins over Francis Scott Key, Smithsburg and North Hagerstown.

Kelley, a senior baseball player, earned the boys honor with 38.98% of the vote (320 votes). He struck out 10 over four no-hit innings in a win over Tuscarora, had three hits, including a homer, in a win over Oakdale and went 1-for-2 with two walks and an RBI in a win over Frederick.

The other boys nominees were Boonsboro’s Logan Atkinson (baseball), Boonsboro’s Colin Telemeco (lacrosse) and Williamsport’s Jared Dangerfield (baseball).

The other girls nominees were South Hagerstown’s Kailia Burke (softball), North Hagerstown’s Rian Johnson (track) and Saint James’ Everett Sechler (softball).
